An exceptional survivor from the 1992 launch year, this original Ellen Tracy parfum represents the fragrance exactly as it first appeared before its later discontinuation and reformulation. Presented in the distinctive softly rounded, frosted-glass bottle associated with the original release, this petite parfum retains both its fitted presentation box and original exterior retail packing box.

Available today is this confirmed 1992 launch-year, new in presentation box with original exterior retail packing box, made in the USA, original and authentic Ellen Tracy Classic Parfum Splash in a dainty 0.25-ounce (¼ ounce / 7.5ml) size. It carries Early Embossed Batch Number 2, Reference Number 31462-00 and UPC 309975881066 and was originally purchased at Bloomingdale's. The fragrance was distributed by the original Fashion and Designer Fragrance Group, Inc. This is the original 1992 formulation, not the later reformulated Ellen Tracy fragrance. All photographs were taken at high magnification to best document overall condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured. Dating & Authentication

This bottle is confirmed as dating from the 1992 launch year. Ellen Tracy entered the fragrance market in 1992 through a fragrance licensing arrangement involving Revlon. Contemporary reporting from June 1992 documents the newly introduced Ellen Tracy fragrance and its distinctive rounded frosted-glass presentation. Historical fragrance references credit perfumer Jean-Pierre Béthouart with the composition and designer Marc Rosen with its original bottle.

This launch-year bottle carries the early Fashion and Designer Fragrance Group, Inc. distribution identification together with Reference Number 31462-00, UPC 309975881066, and embossed Batch Number 2. Its bottle and packaging belong to the original presentation and predate the later reformulation and redesigned bottle. Packaging & Presentation

One of the defining characteristics of the original Ellen Tracy is its elegant oval, egg-shaped frosted-glass bottle. The parfum is visible through the softly frosted glass, while the rounded silhouette and restrained presentation reflect the sophisticated minimalist packaging favored by prestige fragrances of the early 1990s.

This 7.5ml parfum is housed in its original fitted presentation box and is accompanied by its original exterior retail packing box, an increasingly difficult combination to find intact.

The complete packaging is particularly desirable for documenting how the fragrance was originally retailed in its launch year. Condition

New and unused in its original presentation box with original exterior retail packing box.

The exterior packing box exhibits light shelf and storage wear, as visible in the photographs. The presentation box and bottle remain especially attractive for their age. Please examine the photographs carefully for the exact cosmetic condition, packaging condition and fragrance level. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured. Why This Bottle Stands Out

This bottle occupies an important point in Ellen Tracy fragrance history: the very beginning.

Rather than being one of the numerous later bottles carrying the Ellen Tracy name, this is a confirmed 1992 launch-year example of the original formulation, preserved in the distinctive first-generation bottle and accompanied by both levels of original packaging. Its true Parfum concentration is another important distinction. At just 0.25 ounce, it represents the concentrated prestige presentation of the original fragrance rather than the more commonly encountered later sprays. Collector's Notes

The Ellen Tracy name has appeared on substantially different fragrance presentations over the decades, making correct identification particularly important. The original fragrance belongs to the company's first venture into perfume in 1992. Historical fragrance documentation records the original composition as the work of Jean-Pierre Béthouart. The original fragrance was eventually discontinued and subsequently reworked, with later Ellen Tracy production appearing in a dramatically different tall bottle presentation.

For collectors interested specifically in original formulations, this early rounded bottle is therefore fundamentally different from the later Ellen Tracy fragrances that are much more frequently encountered on the secondary market. Fragrance History

Originally launched in 1992, Ellen Tracy is generally classified as a rich floral-oriental / floriental fragrance with fruity, spicy, floral and woody facets. The original composition opens with the lush fruitiness of plum and peach, accented by cinnamon and fresh green and citrus nuances. Its heart develops into an expansive floral bouquet incorporating jasmine, carnation, freesia, rose, orchid, tuberose, ylang-ylang and lily-of-the-valley. The fragrance settles into a warm, substantial base built around sandalwood, cedar, tonka bean, musk, amber and oakmoss.

The result is characteristic of sophisticated early-1990s perfumery: richer and more complex than many later interpretations bearing the Ellen Tracy name.
