Frances Denney Interlude Lt. Cologne 12 oz Parfait Amour Decanter Vintage 1970s

$625.00Price
Quantity

An impressive survivor from the golden age of American fragrance presentation, this oversized Interlude "Parfait Amour" decanter captures the dramatic vanity-display styling that made large-format gift fragrances so desirable during the 1970s. The substantial footed glass construction, oversized spherical stopper, decorative metallic ribbon, and deep amber-colored contents combine to create a striking display piece that stands apart from standard fragrance bottles of the era.

Available today is this rare, circa 1974–1979 vintage, original and authentic Interlude light cologne splash in a huge 12 oz (360ml) glass "Parfait Amour" decanter by Frances Denney, Inc. (Reference Number: 07202), made in the USA. This impressive bottle stands approximately 8.5 inches tall from stopper to base and retains its original decorative ribbon and glass stopper. Photos were taken at high magnification to best highlight overall item condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured.

This bottle can be confidently dated to approximately 1974–1979 based on its 12-ounce Parfait Amour decanter format, Philadelphia address, footed apothecary-style bottle design, original glass stopper, and period Frances Denney labeling. The 12-ounce size appears to have been unique to the mid-to-late 1970s Parfait Amour decanter series and predates the larger 16-ounce versions commonly associated with later production.

Batch, reference, and UPC information: Reference Number 07202. Pre-UPC production. Base label marked "Interlude Parfait Amour Decanter Light Cologne 12 Fl. Oz. Frances Denney, Inc. Phila., PA 19101."

Condition

Collector Notes

Large-format Frances Denney fragrance decanters have become increasingly desirable among collectors due to their dramatic presentation and relatively limited survival rate. While smaller Interlude bottles are encountered periodically, oversized Parfait Amour decanters are considerably less common and were often discarded once emptied. The Philadelphia, Pennsylvania address further supports its earlier production period and adds historical interest for collectors of vintage American fragrances.

Why This Bottle Stands Out vs. Later Versions

This bottle represents the desirable Philadelphia-era Frances Denney production and the distinctive 12-ounce Parfait Amour decanter format associated with the mid-to-late 1970s. Later Interlude bottles often featured different addresses, packaging styles, UPC markings, and presentation formats. The combination of the footed pedestal base, oversized glass stopper, decorative ribbon, and substantial 12-ounce capacity creates a far more dramatic display piece than most standard retail bottles.

Fragrance History

1962: Frances Denney introduces Interlude, an oriental fragrance blending floral, citrus, and resinous notes into a sophisticated feminine composition.

1960s: Interlude develops a loyal following and becomes one of the company's most recognizable fragrance offerings.

1970s: Frances Denney expands the line with decorative gift presentations and oversized display formats, including Parfait Amour decanters such as the example offered here.

1980s: Interlude remains a recognizable fragrance name while packaging and bottle styles continue to evolve.

Later Years: Vintage Interlude bottles become increasingly collectible among enthusiasts of classic American perfumery and vanity-display fragrances.

Originally launched in 1962, Interlude is classified as an oriental fragrance featuring top notes of orange flower and bergamot, middle notes of rose and jasmine, and base notes of patchouli, musk, and myrrh. Its warm, elegant composition helped establish Interlude as one of Frances Denney's most enduring fragrance creations.
