Wind Song was introduced in the early 1950s and became one of Prince Matchabelli's enduring signature fragrances. Most modern fragrance references date its introduction to 1953, although some sources give 1952. This bottle bears the Prince Matchabelli name and New York identification directly on the bottle. Its tall sculptural glass construction, gold-tone cap, gold enameled graphics, typography, 2-ounce bath-oil format, and overall presentation are consistent with vintage Prince Matchabelli packaging from the 1970s period. Condition

This vintage bottle presents beautifully. The sculptural glass bottle and gold-tone cap remain attractive, while the original gold enameled Wind Song and Prince Matchabelli lettering is exceptionally well preserved. The bath oil retains a rich golden-amber no original outer packaging is included. Please review all photographs carefully, as they show the exact bottle and fill level being offered. Why This Item Stands Out

Vintage Wind Song is familiar to generations of fragrance enthusiasts, but surviving ancillary products can be particularly interesting to collectors. This is not the commonly encountered cologne presentation but the 2-ounce Perfumed Bath Oil, packaged in a distinctive tall glass bottle designed to be displayed on the vanity.

The remarkably well-preserved gold lettering is another important visual feature. Combined with the sculptural bottle, original contents, and generous 2-ounce size, it makes this an especially appealing example of vintage Prince Matchabelli packaging. Collector's Notes

Prince Matchabelli traces its origins to Prince Georges Matchabelli, a Georgian-born émigré who established his perfume business in New York during the 1920s. The company became famous for its dramatic packaging and accessible American interpretations of European-style perfumery.

Wind Song became one of the house's best-known fragrances and remained in production for decades. Its longevity resulted in numerous bottle designs, concentrations, bath products, powders, gift sets, and later reformulations, making original Prince Matchabelli-era presentations an interesting collecting field. This bath-oil bottle is particularly decorative, with floral relief molded into the glass shoulders and a broad, weighted pedestal base that gives the slender bottle considerable visual presence. Fragrance History:

1920s: Prince Georges Matchabelli establishes his perfume business in New York.

1952–1953: Wind Song is introduced. Surviving fragrance references differ slightly on the exact launch year, with 1953 being the date most commonly cited today.

1950s–1960s: Wind Song develops into one of the signature fragrances associated with Prince Matchabelli.

1970s: Wind Song continues to be marketed in numerous fragrance and body-product presentations, including perfumed bath products such as this example.

Later Years: Wind Song survives through changes in corporate ownership and subsequent reformulations, increasing collector interest in earlier Prince Matchabelli-branded presentations. Fragrance Notes

Originally launched in approximately 1953, Wind Song is classified as a floral fragrance. It opens with coriander, orange leaf, mandarin orange, tarragon, neroli, bergamot, and lemon; the heart combines clove, carnation, orris root, jasmine, ylang-ylang, rose, and Brazilian rosewood; and the composition rests on a warm base of sandalwood, amber, musk, benzoin, vetiver, and cedar.

The combination of aromatic herbs and citrus with carnation, clove, creamy florals, woods, amber, and musk gives Wind Song the richly layered floral character associated with classic mid-century perfumery.
