An impressive survivor from the golden age of luxury American cosmetics, this oversized Ultima Soft Cologne captures the sophisticated image Charles Revson sought to create for his premium Ultima II product line. The substantial heavy-glass bottle, warm amber-colored contents, elegant gold-tone cap, and fully intact 22k gold lettering combine to create a striking vanity-display piece representative of upscale beauty marketing during the 1960s.

Available today is this lovely, vintage 1960s, completely full, original and authentic Ultima Soft Cologne splash in a generous 7.7 oz (228ml) size by Charles Revson, made in the USA. Part of the prestigious Ultima II product line, this oversized presentation retains its original gold-tone cap with only extremely light wear, while all of the 22k gold lettering remains fully intact and highly displayable. Photos were taken at high magnification to best highlight overall item condition. The buyer will receive the exact item pictured.

This bottle can be ascribed to the 1960s based on its presentation style, Charles Revson branding, oversized splash format, and association with the early years of the Ultima II luxury cosmetics line. Large-format fragrance presentations such as this were intended to convey prestige and luxury while serving as elegant vanity-display pieces in their own right. Condition

This bottle remains exceptionally attractive and appears completely full. The heavy-glass bottle displays beautifully, the gold-tone cap exhibits only extremely light age-related wear, and all 22k gold lettering remains intact and legible. Please review all photographs carefully to determine overall cosmetic condition, as they form part of the description. Collector Notes

Large-format Ultima fragrances are considerably more difficult to locate than standard retail presentations, particularly in complete and full condition. Charles Revson positioned Ultima II as Revlon's premier luxury cosmetics line, and the packaging reflected that upscale image through substantial bottle construction and elegant presentation. This bottle offers strong appeal to collectors of vintage American perfumery, Revlon memorabilia, vanity-display pieces, and mid-century cosmetics history.

Additionally, oversized vanity-sized fragrance bottles from the 1960s have become increasingly desirable among collectors because many were discarded after use. Surviving examples that remain completely full and retain their original decorative lettering are significantly less common today than standard retail sizes. Why This Bottle Stands Out vs. Later Versions

This example represents the early luxury era of the Ultima II brand before later packaging revisions and corporate changes altered the product line's presentation. The oversized 7.7-ounce format, heavy-glass construction, and intact gold decoration reflect the ambitious premium positioning that Charles Revson envisioned for the brand. Surviving examples in full condition are increasingly difficult to locate today. Fragrance History

1960s: Ultima becomes one of the signature fragrance offerings associated with the prestigious Ultima II brand.

1970s–1990s: The Ultima II line continues to evolve while maintaining its reputation as Revlon's luxury-tier cosmetics and fragrance division.

Originally launched in 1961, Ultima is generally classified as an oriental-spicy fragrance that balances bright aldehydic and fruity notes with warm florals, spices, resins, and woods. The composition opens with aldehydes, bergamot, apple, fruits, and spices before unfolding into a heart of cinnamon, pimento, carnation, rose, jasmine, and orchid. A rich base of amber, benzoin, civet, patchouli, opoponax, sandalwood, and vanilla provides warmth, depth, and longevity, reflecting the bold, sophisticated fragrance style popular during the era.

Charles Revson considered Ultima II his most personal and prestigious brand venture. To reinforce the luxury image of the line, he famously named his yacht Ultima II, further emphasizing the importance he placed on the brand within the Revlon portfolio.
